ALMOND (Prunus Amygdalus Var. Dulcus Oleum)
The almond tree, whose homeland is Central Asia, has been grown in Iran and China for 3500 years. Its fruits are formed only in the sunny regions of the Mediterranean. The tree is native to southwest Asia. The cultivated form can be grown as far north as the British Isles. It is a small tree, reaching 4-9 m in length. The lanceolate leaves are about 6-12 cm long and have a toothed edge. The flowers are usually white or pale pink, with 5 petals and 3-5 cm in diameter. It blooms in early spring before the leaves.
METHOD OF OBTAINING: It is obtained from sweet almond kernels by cold pressing method.
