Its Latin name is 'Fumaria Officinalis'. It is derived from the Latin word 'fumus' meaning 'the smell of the ground'. It is from the poppy family. Its homeland is Southern Europe, North Africa and Turkestan. It grows in natural conditions in almost every region of our country. It cannot carry its bluish-green, multi-forked leaves, and it seems to bend towards the ground. It is an annual plant that grows easily in gardens, fields and grassy areas.
Between May and July, it blooms with beautiful white, pink or purple flowers. The flowers are in bunches, gathered like bunches at the ends of the branches. Its fruits are small, spherical and single-seeded.
The use of chamomile dates back to the Ancient Egyptians, Mesopotamia and Roman empires. There are about fifty known species. It is also known as jaundice grass, ground flower, fox coriander, ground gall and chicken foot grass in various regions.
The collection period is from May to October. Its roots, flowers and leaves are dried differently. In order not to reduce the quality of the beneficial oils in the composition of the plant, it must be dried by a specialist under appropriate conditions.
From the herbaceous plant; Buffalo tea, tincture and cream are produced.
When dried under suitable conditions, it has a lifespan of 1 year when stored in a closed glass jar in a dim, cool and dry environment.
